Efficiency Through Innovation

Who we are

Since 2012, Technical Spatial has developed a reputation for leading change and efficiency gains in the land development, construction and fabrication sectors in Hawke’s Bay and beyond.

Our small, specialist team is big on innovative ideas that don’t just drive productivity and cost savings for our clients, but contribute to a better built environment.

Our Story

After many years working in senior roles for surveying companies in New Zealand, the UK and Australia, Managing Director Warren Gunn founded Technical Spatial in 2012 in order to go further with his vision to provide transformative change to businesses through new technology in the surveying sector.

Since then, he and a small team of tech-savvy surveyors have helped dozens of businesses in Hawke’s Bay, the East Coast, Waikato and across the North Island to understand and harness the power of digital technology to improve workflows and project outcomes.

WARREN GUNN

BSurv, Licensed Cadastral Surveyor

Warren has held senior surveying and director positions in businesses across New Zealand, Australia and the UK during his career and developed a reputation as a champion of technology.

He established Technical Spatial first in Queensland in 2012 before bringing the business and his skills back home to Hawke’s Bay in 2018.

Despite having led major survey infrastructure projects, he finds the most satisfaction in smaller-scale survey work where innovation and a lean practice mindset can create significant project benefits and cost savings for his clients.

AARON ROBERTSON

 NDS

After graduating from Unitech in 2012 and working in Auckland for five years, Aaron moved to Hawke’s Bay in 2017 and has developed a reputation for his innovative approach to surveying and embracing new technologies to add value on site.

He has acquired extensive experience in complex engineering surveying work and has a passion for precision which is beautifully met through his skilled laser scanning and reality capture work.

When he’s not inventing new ways to improve survey efficiency on-site, Aaron is most likely found on the badminton court (although he’ll probably give you a hiding on the cricket pitch or golf course too).

CARL MIRAFLOR

BSC (Geotectic Engineering)

Carl begin his career working on Government infrastructure projects for the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Phillipines. His survey work then took him to Dubai with Australian company ASME before moving into laser scanning in Abu Dhabi.

In 2022 Carl moved to New Zealand to further his career with Technical Spatial, where he especially enjoys the benefits that come from being part of a small but experienced team that are hands-on with a diverse range of surveying projects both big and small.

He plans to continue to build on passions for both laser scanning and fishing, and is stoked to call Hawke’s Bay his forever home.

We seek to understand the purpose of every project we work on in order to add value to our clients.

To fire innovation, our workplace is collaborative and promotes the sharing and passing on of knowledge, supporting others to grow professionally.

By investing in the best technology and experience we are able to deliver our clients increased productivity, complete information which in turn facilitates greater profitability, better outcomes and reduced waste and rework.

Our professionalism is reflected not just in delivering industry-leading surveying data but in the small things like top-notch presentation that makes information clear and accessible.

Being first on a project site and last to leave provides opportunity and responsibility.
We have a high trust model within the team and are accountable for our own work but understand there is always support to find solutions.

Through collaboration with other good industry operators, we feel proud to play a role in improving the community’s quality of life through good decision-making around land development.
